Chairman’s Announcement

Going to put an announcement on website, social media and perhaps use school for fliers to advertise that we want to set up an under 7’s side for 2019/2020 season ( currently year 1 at school, going into year 2 in Sept 2019 ) with a plan to hold training sessions late spring / summer for all interested 5-6 year olds, and to hopefully find a willing volunteer or 2 from the parent pool to then coach / manage the side moving forward. May need volunteers within the club to help intially, but sounds like already 4 kids signed up and keen. If we could get 10 more and work on two under 7 sides for 2019/20 that would be a great start.

Youth Secretary Report

We urgently need level 2 coaches by this time next year, we currently have just 2 within the club !!! Please advise if you think you can step up.

There are 4 x level 1 courses AW has found in Petersfield / Havant / Farnborough, AW is happy to physically book the place on the course, we just need people who can commit to potentially 4 x weekend sessions and 2 x weeknight sessions.

We also need the FA Licence coach number, LUFC currently has just AW + 3 other coaches, and AW doesn’t even have a team !!! We need everyone to get the FA license number asap please.

LUFC has just passed its annual health check but has charter standard coming up, so we need to at least show that the above is in process.

If any teams need matchday cover please remember that AW is qualified and will always help if she can – we cannot have matches overseen by willing but ultimately unqualified parents.

Treasurer Report

Still have about 65 of the 100 players due to pay second part of annual fees outstanding ( £ 70 each ) can all managers please take ownership for this, and if you need to know which individuals in your side still owe the second 50% then please ask JU for names.

Still chasing Nick at Advance Vending for tournament money.

We have March for Bohunt fees still to pay and then that cost will come off for a few months !

Men’s Update

First team, Kev & Fred doing a great job since the sudden departure of Lemmy, the side have lost the last 3 games, all tough matches, but spirits are high, good numbers at training, about 30 players registered which is great but on flip side makes it harder to blood the youngsters.

Reserves, a recent 5-2 win v Yateley in the Aldershot Cup Q-F, awaiting news of the semi-final oppo and venue, which might be Woking. 1-1 draw with Fleetlands in League means that if they beat Paulsgrove at home this Saturday the reserves will be league winners with a few games to spare ! Last week lost an epic League Cup Semi Final v Paulsgorve at Liss, thanks to all those who came to support, an early 2-0 lead became 2-3, then 3-3 but eventually our 10 men lost 3-4 in terrible weather but payers and fans conducted themselves impeccably.

Vets recently won 6-1, nobody died, and hope to have a game this weekend Feb 17, a friendly v Fernhurst.

Youth Football Updates

Mark Angear u18 – a 7-0 win v Denmead, two other fixtures cancelled.

Liam’s u18 – played 4 games since the last meeting, lost on penalties in the Hants Cup, and unbeaten in 3 home games,

Mark Culverhouse u16 – only 1 game played since last meeting.

Adie Locke u16 – Got 4 more games left this season, since last meeting a 1-2 defeat v Milford and a 3-1 defeat v Caterham or Greatham depending on my shorthand.

Andy D’Amato u15 – p4, suffered a first league loss, then 2 draws and a win v Beacon Hill, but still on course to win the league !

Andy Ox u13 – struggling for numbers and been on receiving end of 2 league defeats, now sat 7th in the 10 team prem league, hope to get another player or two in this month to see us through to end of season but could well be settling for Div 1 next season unless we stop letting in silly goals and start taking chances at other end too. Apart from that…..!

Spencer’s u11 – 2 games, 2 cancellations, results removed.

Steve Lawrence u9’s – 3 games, results removed

Steve Harding u7 – 2 games, results removed.  Got 11 players signed on and able to keep them all happy so far with 5-a-side footy !

Tournament :

Can we get Altis as Sponsors ? In return although others are cheaper should we commit to Altis for the trophy order ?

JU has confirmed DE Photo again, and Nick also in place for the confectionary and soft drinks side of things.

JA to ask if the Bit Bar are keen to return for a 3rd year. Also to see if Bohunt will permit use of the 6th form parking area but it’s unlikely given their stance 12 months ago.

TBA – we need a sponsor liaison volunteer please.

Cannot “reserve” a space this year, too risky, for this year nobody can be considered as registered unless they have paid !

Please push companies to sponsor the programme, half page £ 25 or full page £ 50 as per normal.

Any Other Business :

JR update on the Nigel Marr memorial bench. It was dictated at a recent parish council meeting that the bench must be at Radford Park not the Rec, which as a club is not satisfactory, so the plan is to have a second bench, which will be at the Rec. LUFC will pay for this bench, Spencer kindly volunteered to install it for us on the North Bank. JR has been granted permission by the parish council to do this, and all attendees at tonight’s meeting approved that this was a great idea !

Spencer – need to set a date for the Presentation Night. AO said it’s on March agenda but it could be a better use of time and money to hold this at rec in summer instead of Millennium Hall.

MA – do we have the banner for the gym guys who sponsor us ? CH to follow up with Kev on this, AO said that LUFC will be paying for it as goodwill gesture. Liam also asked if there is a Hamptons Banner being displayed on matchdays too ?

MA – had a slight run in with a coach form another club who wanted to use specific goals at the astro training and tried to lay claim to them. JA to check with Karen but we all feel everyone has made same booking and has equal rights and mark was within his rights if there first to use the 2 goals he wanted to !

MA – Could there be an u18 tournament held at the Rec ?

Steve L – there is £ 150 courtesy of the Carnival Committee and he is happy to be the point of liaison because somebody from the club needs to collect this and thank the Carnival Committee for this donation.

Carl – announced that he’ll be resigning as reserves manager at the end of this very successful season, THANK YOU and good luck ! The club will need to source a manager to take on what will probably be a young Reserves squad again in 2019/20

Steve H – will there be more work undertaken on men’s pitch ? AO advised that it’s work which has so been done just the once, be patient, because ideally it would be done 3 times per year. Could we ask Southern Groundcare re worming as they also worked on the pitch at Midhurst which is apparently in very good condition.

Date of next meeting – Monday 11 March

Meeting closed 8.39pm
