Sharks off to winning start in first competitive game

Liphook Under 12 Sharks played their first ever competitive game on the weekend.  Please see the match report below.

A tame first half, with errors across the pitch stopped us penetrating them but in the same focus we never looked like conceding either so that was the positive from the half.   We looked dis-lodged and at times uncomfortable playing football, which as a team that is normally our biggest quality to offer the game. Anyway after a debriefing at half time we come out in the second half with a bit more inspiration to achieve more, and after a short period into it we started to look like our normal selves with 1-2 passes with some little link ups and stringing 6&7 passes together in stages and we started to settle.
As the half progressed we started to show signs of what we are capable of, bang a breakthrough into the box saw with a good delivery and Vinnie hitting the wood work on his first attempt at goal and then a ricochet in the box again allowed Vinnie to bury his second attempt at goal, with this goal came from what I felt throughout the team a sense of comfort and stability and they at this point decided that they were going to press on with the game.
It seemed to have lifted the team spirit which is what scoring goals should do for the team so it was great to see. ( approx 13mins to go ) we were 1-0 up, brilliant now we are creating chances and look a lot more comfortable throughout the 3rd’s of the pitch, we attack down the left again for thier defence to try and clear, Vinnie Jackson heads down the clearance into the path of Max Bray who turns his man and slots home 2-0, a calm collected finish that max had been searching for throughout the game.
We attacked again minutes later and the opposition are struggling to clear thier lines in defence and Max Bray does some hold up play and then commits himself to a 50/50 ball in the box with thier keeper and thier defender with the ball coming back into the box and Harry Roberts runs onto it and calmly puts the ball into the back of the net 3-0……… this 20/25 minute period of the second half see us show what we are capable of when we put our minds to it and display our ability.
Other efforts include Max Monkman trying on a few occasions along with Max Bray and Oli Lynch and Oscar Jackson also putting thier keeper through his paces.
Solid performances from Charlie Barrow and Oscar Sherrin saw them come away as men of the match and deservedly so.
Positive start to the season!!!
It’s 3 points on the board !!!
BLUE ARMY!!! ⚽ ⚽ ⚽
